Anxiety Disorder Treatment: A Solution

Anxiety disorder treatment can be a good step towards healing for someone suffering from an anxiety disorder of any type. Generally there are two types of treatments: medications and cognitive behavioral therapy. Either therapy or medications can be used by itself or in combination to successfully treat anxiety problems.

The Right Anxiety Disorder Treatment

Medications can be a very good option for those suffering from anxiety. Research has shown that many antidepressant medications can and have been used successfully. Once you and your doctor decide on a specific medication, keep in mind that it can take a while for the medications to begin to help. Any type of anti-anxiety medication can take up to a few weeks to assist your body in regulating the chemicals that cause anxiety. Some medications can have side effects, so make sure you understand both the benefits and side effects of any particular medication. Some side effects are worse than others, but if you are aware of the side effects, you will know what to expect.

Another way to treat it is therapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy is often used to help patients suffering from anxiety. One aspect of this involves changing the way the patient thinks or perceives certain things. By changing the way you think about certain situations, those particular situations can become less intimidating and help with the tendency to inflate a situation to an unmanageable level. Also, the patient can attempt to change their reactions to certain situations. This way is usually used for those who suffer from certain phobias. By exposing themselves to the specific things that trigger their anxiety, they will hopefully realize that the consequences for these situations are not nearly as bad as they thought.

Quite often, medications and behavioral therapy are used in combination for anxiety disorder treatment. When the patient changes the way they view and think about certain things, the behavioral therapy is successful. If medication is prescribed, it can take several weeks to fully work. Medications as an anxiety disorder treatment help regulate certain chemicals that the body needs. By combining the two treatments, the patient can effectively battle their anxiety disorders.

Anxiety disorder treatment is quite often successful. If behavioral therapy is prescribed, it also can take a while to work, since it takes time to change thought and behavior patterns. However, by combining these ways of curing it, most patients have had a very good level of success.

  2. You NEED to go to your GP and they will send you to a health clinic near you for counselling which will help your needs. this will be free if done through your doc as it will be on he NHS.
It doesnt sound like your mum is helping the situation and it needs to be sorted for obvious reasons.

  4. First off, I’m sorry your mom won’t help you get help. There are a couple of ways you can go by this.

First, talk with your counselor at school. By speaking with her "honestly" she maybe able to help and even speak with your mom

Secondly, try to see if you have a local mental health department in your area. I’m not sure they’ll treat you since your a adolescent, but it’s worth trying.

Third and last, if you have a dad speak with him. He may be able to convince your mother.

Best of luck and keep going striving and never give up.

  6. You obviously have Internet access…use it! Study meditation and work on it. It takes a while, but with practice you can use it quite successfully. Also, do some research on your condition. This time of year is a peak time for anxiety! The brain is adjusting to the over stimulation caused by the changing of the seasons (added light and such create spikes in serotonin levels that have been linked to increased anxiety).
If your mum is against medication, then try some herbal remedies, like valerian root, that you can pick up yourself. Just make sure that you talk to a professional about dosing to make sure you are getting the most out of it. You don’t want to overdo herbals just like you don’t want to overdose on medications!

  8. How do I control the symptoms of my Generalised Anxiety Disorder?
I am still a kid, fourteen turning fifteen, and after I recovered from my panic disorder I had another problem. While I was having my panic disorder, I also had GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and the GAD hasn’t gone away.

For those who don’t know, GAD is an anxiety disorder that makes you pretty much afraid of everything. It’s not that bad though, because my parents trust me heaps, since I won’t get myself into a remotely not-actually-but-possibly situation.

The problem is that the physical symptoms are killing me. The headaches, the muscle pains, small amounts of trembling, restless sleep (I go to bed 1AM. I can’t sleep before then), nausea, a choking sensation that occasionally pops up for no apparent reason, and all these things are starting to get to me.

My mum doesn’t even believe that there’s a problem, because apparently this is normal. Which I don’t really care about, except for the fact that she won’t get me medication to help with the symptoms, or psychological treatment.

I can’t wait for years to pass before I move out and earn my own money to get help. I’ve had this thing for 1 and 1/4 years, and its really starting to get to me. Please help me find a solution that requires no money.
And my dad wants to help, but he simply won’t go up against my mum. As for my mum, there’s no possibility anyone can bring her to reason. I was shaking, barely breathing in my room, a 13 year old kid, her daughter, and she left me and told me to just relax.

So a year later and she’s still making things worse, but I just want the symptoms to go away. The disorder itself isn’t too bad, and its not worth the pain of fixing. It’s just the pain, the headaches, and the occasional trembling that I need to control.
