EFT Works For Traumas
Emotional Freedom Techniques or EFT are particularly effective in emotion-related conditions or physical difficulties indirectly or directly linked to emotions like stress and anxiety. In fact, it is cited that the success rate of EFT when dealing with emotional conditions is not less than 80 percent or almost 100 percent. Thus, it is highly effective in treating various types of traumas.
Trauma relief is one of the earliest applications of EFT. Overcoming Sleep Disorders
For millions of humans the night regularly becomes a nightmare. Instead of finding the desired peace and recovery, they suffer from disturbing sleep disorders. And that has noticeable consequences for their health and well-being. A durable lack of sleep can have serious consequences.

The state during the day is strongly impaired: One feels tired, provoked, overtaxed, powerless and reduced in one’s concentration and efficiency.
Despite tiredness one does not find sleep during the day (for example around noon). The fear of not being able to fall asleep gets even more dominant and culminates into fear of sleeping and fear of night.
Most humans suffer from sleep disorders. In the rarest case are they caused by organic problems. By a change of one’s life habits already many sleep disturbing factors can be eliminated, so for example by balanced nutrition, movement, relaxation and proper stress management.
The major cause for sleep disorders is simply anxiety and stress. How is it then, one might ask, that even persons seemingly without any stress factors suffer from bad sleep?
The answer is quite simple. Stress is ultimately not caused by external circumstances, but within ourselves, by the way we react to outside factors. Chronic sleep disorders nearly always point to some deep rooted issues in one’s subconsiousness.
Anxiety is based on the desire for appreciation, which is pivotal for anybody’s survival. If we don’t feel sufficiently appreciated, even by ourselves, we either feel depressed and/or desperately try to control our circumstances in order to get recognition. As we are very limited in our present capacities, our desire to control is often hampered and foiled. In this way we may suffer a great deal of stress.
While there are many effective tips and tricks to improve one’s quality of sleep, it is of prime importance to develop a peaceful and calm mind regardless of external circumstances. Meditation, release techniques, prayer, positive thinking and other personal development processes can definitely be helpful to achieve that goal. Emotional Intelligence – Key to Stress Relief
We often experience high levels of stress when we become overwhelmed with the unrelenting demands of our environment. The key to becoming resilient in the face of these demands is to develop Emotional Intelligence (EI) skills. The detrimental effects of stress are well-known. Daily, we read about the stress resulting from a variety of sources – the economy, layoffs, the holiday season, school or academic pressures, relationships, and much more. At work we are confronted with growing demands as people are let go and we must do more with less; faster, better and cheaper. Without the right skills to handle these ever increasing challenges our performance suffers. While there is little likelihood that we can change our environment, we can, however, change how we perceive and react to stressful events (the root cause of stress) by transforming the negative emotions they evoke.
The Relationship of Challenge, Emotions and Performance:
Whether you realize it or not, your emotional response to the challenges (or demands/expectations) you face directly affects your performance. For example, imagine I hire you for a position. As a new hire, you’re feeling excited, determined, eager, optimistic and confident. Because of your experience and positive emotions, you perform very well on the first few projects you’re assigned, and now I’m confident that I can give you more projects. In fact, I’m going to give you a lot more projects because we all have to do more with less. Of course, I expect you to continue to perform at the outstanding level you displayed on your first projects.
However, as project is piled upon project and you find yourself putting in extra hours and trying your best, you reach a point where you ask yourself, “If I don’t get all this done, what’s going to happen to me?”?Frustration, anxiety, fear and panic take over. Now skepticism, pessimism and uncertainty are your constant companions instead of optimism and confidence. And, with your frustration, you find yourself wasting time worrying and second-guessing yourself – time that cannot be spared.
And more importantly, your health becomes affected. Your negative emotional response results in a cascade of some 1,400 biochemical events, some of which result in physiological changes such as increased heart rate, blood pressure, cortisol (the stress hormone), and adrenaline. These events compromise your mental clarity, your emotional balance, your physical energy and personal effectiveness, all of which play a part in communication, rational thought and problem solving, and your state of health. And the increased frequency of these negative emotions can cause you to become indecisive, defensive, short with people and angry when others ask you for support or when they don’t support you. In fact, other people are likely feeling the same emotions because you and they exist in the same environment. And stress, like a virus, thrives in this toxic environment.
Emotions and Stress:
Let’s examine this disheartening problem more closely. Whenever people are UNABLE to cope with the demands of their environment they experience negative emotions and beliefs which, in turn, manifest as stress. So while our environment is a significant factor in producing stress, ultimately it is the individual’s inability to transform negative emotions and beliefs that lies at the core of the problem. The real leverage exists in the word “unable.” If people are unable it means they don’t know how to, in this case, manage their emotions about what is happening in the environment.
Actions We Can Take:
So what can we do to help ourselves in these difficult times of growing demands? First we need to develop our emotional self-awareness. When we become aware of our emotions, we also become aware of those times and situations where we allow our negative emotions to creep in and take over. Next we need to develop our emotional self-management skills. By developing these skills we can transform negative emotions into positive, productive emotions and behaviors which enable us to think more clearly. In our Emotional Intelligence (EI) skill-building programs, developing emotional self-awareness and self-management skills are the foundation of EI Competence.
True Story Example:
The following is a true story example of what can happen when you enhance EI skills. I was delivering our EI training to a group of high-potential directors and vice presidents. The training took place on a Tuesday and Wednesday. One of my participants sent this email on the following Monday morning: “I had been having an extremely stressful week with a crushing, impending feeling of failure/doom that I wasn’t going to be able to get everything done to meet some very important deadlines. Since your course, I have been using all the techniques and am amazed how successful they have been. I have been able to get ‘on top’ of everything that needs to get done with little to no agitation. You very well may have helped me with one of the most significant, positive improvements I have ever made in my life.”
What’s the Point?
We can make several observations from this true story:
- Even in today’s demanding environment, you can improve your performance by developing EI skills.
- You can develop these skills in a very short period of time and experience dramatic results – it doesn’t take three to six months as some people suggest.
- When you develop EI skills, you can manage high-stress situations in-the-moment – so instead of waiting for a yoga class, a vacation, or a meditation time, you can manage negative emotions when they occur and prevent stress from accumulating with its potential negative health impact.
Our program results support these points. We conduct impact interviews with participants two to three months after our training. Typically, participants report improvements ranging from 20% to 35% in personal productivity, 25% to 40% in mental clarity, 20% to 40% in stress reduction as well as improvements in teamwork, creativity, management of emotional reactiveness, reduced conflict and other critical workplace issues.

How to Stop Smoking in 60 Days
Of course you want to stop smoking. You want to quit smoking more than anything else, and you should! But, you just don’t know where to turn! If your like most, you may have tried patches, gum, Chantix, Zyban and/or hypnosis only to find yourself right back in the clutches of nicotine addiction! You know that your behavior is unhealthy, but you’re afraid to give up your crutch because if you do your emotional distress will worsen, and you just don’t know if you can cope without it! You know that it’s unhealthy to smoke, but you just can’t seem to stop! Unfortunately, smoking cessation programs not only fail to address the root cause of nicotine addiction, but they also fail in excess of ninety percent of the time! But, I’m here to tell you that there is a better solution for overcoming your nicotine addiction; one that doesn’t include patches, gum, hypnosis, psychoactive drugs or nonsense!
WHY YOU SMOKE
As with every type of habitual behavior, I believe smoking is a choice. I also believe that this choice can be broken down into the following two categories
- Individuals who occasionally enjoy a cigar or cigarette socially
- Individuals that smoke to alleviate their emotional distress and anxiety
Although there is health risks to consider when smoking, individuals that fall respectively into the first category are generally capable of walking away from it without any difficulty whatsoever. Comparatively speaking, this parallels individuals who drink occasionally and or socially. The second category represents individuals who have become dependent on smoking to alleviate there emotional distress and anxiety, whereby making it extremely difficult to achieve smoking cessation, unless they remove the root cause. I am vehemently opposed to labeling anyone since I believe that we are all created equal, but for the purpose of greater understanding these people would fall into the medical community’s definition of a nicotine addict. As we discussed earlier, most physicians, therapist, hypnotists, counselors and smoking cessation experts would have you believe that smoking is caused by a chemical co-dependence and/or that it is a learned behavior. Well, I have a different take on those theories, and I have proven over and over again in my Addiction Recovery Coaching practice that the root cause of addiction is the need to mask emotional distress. These emotional issues are often rooted in the negative patterns of family dysfunction, and smoking is no exception to the rule. Although when it comes to a smoking addiction, the primary type of emotional distress involved is anxiety. In many ways, smoking is used as a coping mechanism for those of us that are nervous, fearful, or anxious about our family, job, relationship, or financial well being. This frantic effort to control life often leads to smoking or a nicotine addiction. In essence, smoking is a crutch! But, why do some people react to the unknown with anxiety while others face it calmly with the belief that things always works out? I believe the answer to this question is twofold. First, some people naturally possess a higher level of coping skills, and second, some people have learned to conquer their fears, insecurities and most important their anxieties!
THE PSYCHOACTIVE EFFECTS OF NICOTINE
As nicotine enters the body, it is distributed quickly through the blood stream and can cross the blood brain barrier in approximately seven seconds. The life of nicotine in the body is around two hours. The amount of nicotine absorbed by the body from smoking depends on many factors, including the type of tobacco, whether the smoke is inhaled, and whether a filter is used. Nicotine’s mood-altering effects vary by report. Initially, it causes a release of glucose from the liver and adrenaline from the adrenal gland, which produces a stimulating effect. However, users report feelings of relaxation, sharpness, calmness, and even alertness. When a cigarette is smoked, nicotine-rich blood passes from the lungs to the brain within seven seconds and immediately stimulates the release of many chemical messengers such as epinephrine (adrenaline) and dopamine a neurotransmitter, which results in enhanced pleasure, decreased anxiety, and a state of alert relaxation. However, as the body adapts it requires increased amounts of nicotine to produce the same effect, whereby creating a trap!
WITHDRAWAL
Many of the proponents of the chemical dependence model believe that when you stop smoking, your body reacts very quickly to the lack of nicotine in your system. They claim that over the course of three to five days, you are likely to experience a number of the following physical symptoms as the toxins are flushed from your body:
- Increased irritability, frustration, or anger
- Anxiety, tension or nervousness
- Restlessness
- Difficulty concentrating
- Fatigue
- Headaches
- Trouble sleeping
- Increased appetite and weight gain
However, I have seen no empirical evidence to conclusively prove that most people experience the above-mentioned symptoms because of the lack of nicotine. I believe that most of these symptoms exist prior to smoking. Therefore, once you stop smoking the anxiety, restlessness, lack of focus, fatigue, and sleeplessness resurface. The nicotine was merely a masking agent! In essence, smoking is a means by which to alleviate ones anxiety and emotional distress. Think about it for a moment, and ask yourself the following questions:
- When you smoke does it calm your nerves and relieve your anxiety?
- Do you find it difficult to manage your anxiety without the crutch of smoking?

How to Treat Insomnia Effective Tips and Remedies
Insomnia (sleeplessness) is a common sleep disorder in which a person experience difficulty in sleeping. Depression and anxiety are the two main causes of insomnia. When you’re on a mission to get your ex back, there’s a lot of stress to deal with…and a lot of people make some pretty bad mistakes because they get so fouled up by it. Some of these mistakes can be pretty costly, so it’s a good idea to watch out for them and stop them before they happen.
Some of these mistakes can be hard to see coming, because you do them almost on impulse. A lot of emotions can fly around in a breakup, and it can lead to poor judgement on your part when it comes to hasty choices. Luckily though, it is possible to keep yourself from sabotaging your own efforts if you know what to watch out for and keep a clear head.
The first big mistake people usually make happens as soon as the initial breakup fight ends…so chances are if you’re reading this you may already have made it! A lot of people panic when their partners break up with them, and with the best of intentions (to prove your dedication and love beyond a shadow of a doubt) they make the huge mistake of swamping their ex with attention. This is a big no-no.
When your partner breaks up with you, it means he or she needs some time off. Granted, your ex probably had a lot more time off in mind when he or she dumped you, but a period of about a month should be spent with as absolutely little contact with one another as possible given the circumstances. If you and your ex work in the same place or have the same classes together, it’ll be hard to avoid each other altogether…so just be civil and polite without being personal. If there are no such issues, though…keep away, no matter how much you feel you need to talk to him or her.
Chasing your ex down may be romantic and dedicated in your head, but outside your head it translates to desperate and lonely…and it only hurts your chances of ever pulling off a reconciliation. Give your ex this month of free space…it’s a great way to get him or her to start to miss you, and if you guys really were such a great fit your ex’ll probably have you on his/her mind a lot.
The other most destructive mistake people make is during this period when the pain and loneliness is at its peak…I call it “drunken dialing.” You’ve probably heard of or experienced it…when it’s so late at night it’s technically morning, you’ve had a few drinks to try and dull the pain, and you miss your ex so bad that you don’t care about keeping your distance and just want to hear his or her voice…so you whip out your phone and make the call. More likely than not your ex will be sleeping if he or she is even home, so you’ll get the answering machine or voicemail and feel compelled to let all your feelings come rushing out of your mouth and into the recorder.
Then you wake up the next morning and bang your head against the wall for what you did…not exactly helping the hangover you probably have. If you think pursuing your ex after a breakup makes you look desperate and needy, those dramatic 3AM phone calls really take the cake. One of your goals should be to let your ex see how well you’re doing and moving on, and that’s NOT an image that’s going to be supported by a case of drunken dialing. Luckily, this mistake is easy enough to avoid if you have a lockdown on your self-control that hasn’t been loosened by drugs or alcohol…it also helps to actually get some sleep, so that you’re not up that late (easier said than done I know, but it’s unhealthy to lose sleep anyways).
So those are the two biggest whoppers of mistakes people make sometimes…they’re often so impulsive that people can’t catch them, but they’re totally avoidable and with some substantial effort fixable if this article came too late for you. The bottom line is that determination and self-control are two of the most valuable traits when you’re trying to get your ex back, as well as when you’re trying to keep a relationship from going under in the first place.
