Generalized anxiety disorder is one of the common anxiety disorders. There is relief for sufferers. Anxiety disorders are the term covering several different forms of abnormal, pathological anxiety, fear, phobia and nervous condition, which may come on all of a sudden or gradually, over a period of several years and may impair or prevent the pursuing of normal daily routines.

The essential characteristic of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is excessive uncontrollable worry about everyday things. This constant worry affects daily functioning and can cause physical symptoms. GAD is usually difficult to diagnose for it lacks some of the dramatic symptoms, like unprovoked panic attacks, that are seen with other anxiety disorders. To be able to diagnose Generalized Anxiety Disorder, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Symptoms must be present more days than not for at least 6 months.

The diagnostic criteria for Generalized Anxiety Disorder symptoms are:

Excessive anxiety and worry (apprehension), occurring more days than not for a period of at least 6 months, about numerous events or activities.

The person with GAD finds it hard to control the worry.
The anxiety and worry are associated with three or more of the following six symptoms, with at least some symptoms are present for more than 6 months in most days than not (at least one is required for children):

restlessness or feeling tense or on the edge;
easily fatigued;
difficulty concentrating or mind going blank;
irritability;
muscle tension and muscle aches;
difficulty falling or staying asleep, or restless;
unsatisfying sleep;
difficulty swallowing;
trembling, sweating;
nausea, light-headedness;
feeling out of breath

The focus of anxiety and worry is not limited to, or the anxiety or worry is not about having a panic attack, being embarrassed in the public, being contaminated, gaining weight, having multiple physical complaints, or having a serious illness, and the anxiety, and worry do not occur exclusively during post traumatic disorder.

The anxiety, worry, or physical symptoms cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of everyday activities.

The disturbance is not due to the direct physiological effect of substance, such as alcohol and drug abuse, or medical condition, and does not occur exclusively during a mood disorder, a psychotic disorder, or a pervasive developmental disorder.

When the anxiety level of people with GAD is mild, they can still function socially and keep a job. Even if they don’t avoid certain situations as a result of their disorder, they may have difficulty doing the simplest daily activities if there anxiety is severe. The disorder comes on gradually and can begin at any age, but the risk is highest between childhood and middle age.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder is commonly treated with medication or cognitive-behavioral therapy. Several drugs are used to treat anxiety disorders and these include: benzodiazepines and antidepressants, and Quetiapine.

There are many factors affecting the occurrence of anxiety disorder. Some people have a high tendency to have it because some members of their family already have it or their genes have it. For some people the disorder is a result of traumatic experiences and stressful events in their lives. Whatever the reason for the occurrence of this disorder, it is important to find a way to relieve anxiety attacks and live normally.

People with anxiety disorder are experiencing intense fear with no logical reason. The fear is so intense that may result to trembling, dizziness, sweating, chest pain, difficulty breathing and the sense of losing grip of reality. These symptoms when experienced will make them more anxious and the anticipation of anxiety attacks makes them even more worried. If they cannot find a way to break this cycle and relieve anxiety attacks, it could torment their lives for years.

Fear is a good thing when it makes us aware of the existing dangers and keeps us alert to do the right thing to save ourselves. But too much fear over something that does not exist is disabling and may prevent you from enjoying life. If you are living in constant fear and having anxiety disorder, you have to break free from it and learn how to relieve anxiety attacks.

Here are some tips to relieve anxiety attacks:

Relaxation and deep breathing. This is a good self-help to relieve anxiety attacks. Deep breathing using your diaphragm has a calming effect which helps relieve stress and anxiety. You can do it while sitting straight or standing. You can close your eyes if you want to and take your mind off from your worries. Inhale or breathe in through your nose with chest in abdomen out. Let your abdomen expand while you inhale and then exhale slowly. You will feel that your muscles are tensing up and you will be more relaxed.

Surround yourself with calm and positive people. It will help to forget about your anxiousness if you can talk to people who are positive and calm. It is easier to get rid of your negative intrusive thoughts when there are people who can convince you that there is nothing to worry and nothing bad is going to happen.

Take care of your health. Stress and poor health are some of the reasons for anxiety attacks. You should get enough sleep, eat healthy and exercise to relieve anxiety attacks. A well rested and nourished body and mind will make you more balanced and in control.

Seek professional help. If you cannot handle your anxiety disorder on your own do not hesitate to seek help. It is a treatable disorder and you can be cured with the proper treatment that will work for you.

There are different treatments to help relieve anxiety attacks. The most important thing is to find a treatment that will work for you. Did you know that panic attacks can be cured using simple mental strategies?
The goal of treatment for TMD is to find the most relaxed jaw position, make it permanent, and thus eliminate the painful TMD symptoms. Each person’s TMD treatment is customized to their particular set of symptoms and the causes of their TMD.

How Does TMD Occur?

The lower jaw has a natural resting position called the bite, or in dental language, the occlusion. When you have a “bad bite” (malocclusion), the lower jaw is not moving correctly against the upper jaw. The jaw joint is a ball-and-socket joint with a cartilage pad between the bone surfaces. Anything that pushes or knocks the lower jaw out of its proper relationship with the cartilage pad and the socket in the upper jaw is misaligning the joint – that is, causing TMD.

Examples would be:

· Any strong blow or impact to the side of the head

· Chronic teeth grinding or clenching

· Chronic gum chewing or other gnawing activity such as on pencils

· Misaligned teeth which continually cause the lower jaw to move wrongly

A neuromuscular dentist has specialized equipment to diagnose TMD. You would have an appointment set up for this, and while you wear lightweight devices on the head and jaw area, your neuromuscular dentist would measure, record and analyze a great deal of data to determine whether or not you do have TMD.

TMD Treatment Elements

The treatment could be fairly quick, or rather long-term, depending on what has caused your TMD. It may include several steps, or treatment aspects, and you and your neuromuscular dentist would discuss it ahead of time, and plan the steps to as to fit well within your schedule and budget.

Use of a TENS unit

This small unit (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) has electrodes. When attached to strategic spots on the head, neck and face areas, they deliver mild electrical stimulation to the muscles, causing them to contract and relax. After about 30 or 40 minutes of this, as you relax or doze off in a comfortable chair, those jaw muscles will be relaxed, perhaps for the first time in many years

Dental Work

Misaligned teeth are very often part of the TMD situation, often a cause of it. Your neuromuscular dentist might well also be a cosmetic dentist. This is usually the case when that dentist has graduated from the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI), the premier school for post-graduate dental training.

To help correct the misaligned bite, teeth may need to be repositioned or reshaped. This can be done with laser work, porcelain crowns, dental implants if you have missing teeth, or perhaps replacing some of the fillings.

Oral Appliances

Your oral appliance would be custom-made to be worn at night. It could help reduce tooth grinding while you sleep, and could help retrain the jaw muscles to maintain them in a relaxed position

Some Changes of Habit

If your TMD has been caused, or partially caused, by habits which keep your jaw muscles tense, you would need to phase them out. An oral appliance would help with unconscious tooth grinding, and during the day you would do well to give up chewing and gnawing habits. Usually they are the result of emotional stress or anxiety. In some cases it helps to have physical therapy or some type of counseling.

Medications

You may have a temporary pain medication, especially if you have suffered from the chronic TMD headaches. Some people have a calming medication for a while to help with unlearning a tooth clenching or gum chewing habit. This would all be discussed with your neuromuscular dentist.

Don’t Delay in Seeing a Neuromuscular Dentist

Left untreated, TMD symptoms can worsen, increase your pain, and affect areas of the body beyond the jaw and mouth. Tooth loss can occur, requiring more extensive dental work, such as dental implants. And the longer your TMD goes untreated, the more difficult it will become to alleviate your symptoms with simple measures. That’s why it is so important to see a qualified neuromuscular dentist as soon as you suspect you may be suffering from TMD.

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) defines complementary and alternative medicine as “a group of diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and products that are not presently considered to be part of conventional medicine.” New Hope Medical Center, an alternative cancer treatment center located in Scottsdale, AZ, offers patients suffering from cancer a unique, individualized way to fight this disease. The staff at New Hope brings together over 50 years of experience, and as a result, the New Hope Treatment Method has been created. With this alternative cancer treatment method, each patient receives a plan specialized for his or her needs.

The entire staff at the New Hope Medical Center works hard to help cancer patients who are looking for alternative cancer treatments that are effective and non-invasive. The knowledgeable and friendly staff provides a warm environment for cancer patients. The New Hope Medical Center doctors, nurses, oncologists, and nutritionists strive to meet individual alternative cancer treatment needs.

Many people who suffer from cancer experience fatigue, nausea and vomiting, pain, stress, and anxiety. There are several types of non-invasive, effective alternative cancer treatments that New Hope Medical Center offers in order to suppress and heal a patient. Acupuncture is an example of just one of the many alternative cancer treatment options. The following is a brief explanation of acupuncture. For further information, contact New Hope Medical Center, where the medical staff will work to design an individual treatment plan that could include acupuncture among other treatments.

-Acupuncture: Acupuncture can be used to aid in the suppression of cancer-related symptoms including nausea, vomiting, anxiety, depression, and overall pain. Acupuncture is considered to be part of traditional Chinese medicine, and has been practiced for thousands of years in other Asian countries besides China. Only until recently has acupuncture gained notoriety in the United States. According to the National Cancer Institute, acupuncture is defined as “the application of stimulation such as needling, moxibustion, cupping, and acupressure on specific sites of the body known as acupuncture points.” The most common form of acupuncture involves the use of tiny metallic needles that are inserted into certain points of the skin to stimulate anatomical points on the body. Acupuncture should only be done by a licensed practitioner.

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) only regulates acupuncture needles for licensed practitioners and requires sterile, nontoxic needles labeled for single use. There are few side effects that come with acupuncture, although some experience what is described as a deep aching sensation as soon as the needle reaches a certain depth in the skin. It is important for a potential acupuncture patient to speak with a doctor to find out more information on this alternative cancer treatment, and how it could potentially help him or her.

New Hope Medical Center offers acupuncture as one of the many viable alternative cancer treatment options. Patients wishing to obtain more information on acupuncture should contact the medical staff at New Hope Medical Center, where the New Hope Treatment Method offers an effective, non-invasive manner in which to treat cancer and the side effects that come with this disease.

It was meant to be a good drug. Xanaz, a type of benzo, is normally prescribed by doctors to help ease psychological problems of their patients, including depression and anxiety. However, recent studies revealed that it can also be habit-forming, which means a chronic user of the drug can develop addiction to it. If you know of anyone who is suffering from this type of addiction, perhaps the best option is to let him undergo a Xanax addiction treatment in a Florida Xanax rehab. It may not be as serious as heroin and cocaine; but it can still be destructive, affecting the mind and body of the sufferer.

The Alarming Rise of Xanax Addicts

For the span of time that the drug has been introduced into the market, Xanax is already one of the most common abused prescriptions. In fact, it is a little bit close to Valium. Moreover, for the past 7 years, there’s a huge rise of more than 40 percent of users that have been brought to health care facilities for Xanax addiction treatment. This means that it would not take long before there will be a lot of sufferers who will finally succumb to it, and that the numbers will just keep on rising, unless a Xanax addiction treatment is sought.

Effects of Xanax

A Xanax addiction treatment may be dependent on how long and how much the user has been exposed to the drug. Normally, if the person has been taking Xanax at very low doses, most of the side effects may include drowsiness, fatigue, headache, nausea, anxiety, and too much sweating. However, the effects become more severe the more that the person becomes addicted to it. Not only will be exhibiting these physical manifestations, but he may also start to have problems in his psychomotor skills. For one, he may no longer remember a lot of details anymore and will suffer from poor concentration. Moreover, he may have some difficulty in speaking. He will also be experiencing a sudden drop of weight, constipation, and worse seizures.

Seeking a Florida Xanax Rehab

A very good option for Xanax addiction treatment is a Florida Xanax rehab. These types of facilities will provide the necessary medical and psychological help in order to combat his addiction, most notably during withdrawal.

When in the process of detoxification, a Florida Xanax rehab has doctors and the medical equipment to ensure that the withdrawal will not be too difficult for the sufferer. It is also very important that someone will be keeping an eye on the sufferer since this is also the time when the urges to go back to the addiction will start to rise, and he will surely be doing things at great length to make sure that he can satisfy his pangs.

A Florida Xanax rehab can also go to the root cause of the addiction, which is normally anxiety and depression. Usually, once these causes can be eliminated into the system during the Xanax addiction treatment, the user will no longer have any reason to take the drug, more so get addicted to it.

High blood pressure is a serious condition that affects one in four adults. High blood pressure is dangerous because it makes the heart work harder to pump blood to the body. It is the force of blood against the walls of arteries. It makes the heart work harder to pump blood to the body and causes the hardening of the arteries. Normal blood pressure is less than 130/85. High blood pressure is higher than 140/90. Hypertension is between 120/80 and 140/90.

Causes of High Blood Pressure

Studies show many different kinds of secondary high blood pressure where the primary causes may be quite different from the continuing causes. An example is a rare disease known as coarctation of the aorta, a disease of the large artery carrying blood out of the heart. In this condition, the aorta is tightly constricted a few inches beyond its origin and then expands to its normal diameter. Undoubtedly, blood pressure must rise above the constriction and fall below it, just as it does when one compresses a hosepipe. Yet, if this constriction is removed surgically and the normal continuity of the aorta is restored, blood pressure usually takes several years to fall to normal level. The initial case of high blood pressure is the constriction, but the continuing cause is probably complex changes in circulating hormones, which function to maintain blood flow through the kidneys despite the obstruction, which may persist for a long time even after the obstruction, has gone.

Pressure in a hose can be regulated either by controlling the rate at which fluid passes through it or by widening it. Pressure inside your arteries can cause the muscles that line the walls of the arteries to thicken. Your blood pressure is at its highest when the heart beats, pumping the blood. When the heart is at rest, between beats, your blood pressure falls. Still, for most of your waking hours, your blood pressure stays pretty much the same when you are sitting or standing still.

The last cause is one in which you have absolutely no control over. It is genetics. On its own, genetics doesn’t cause high blood pressure, but it feeds all the other causes. Think of it as fertilizer so to speak. If you have a family history of high blood pressure, then your very prone to getting it yourself. With the right genes you can have a high fat and sodium diet, never exercise, drink tons of coffee and stress out on a daily basis, yet still have a reasonably low blood pressure. With the wrong genes, even a little too much salt may be enough to kick your blood pressure into a dangerous range.

Symptoms of High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure has no symptoms. But if you feel a dull ache in the back of your head when you wake up one morning, or you have few more nosebleeds than normal, you could have a high blood pressure. Headaches, nosebleeds, and dizziness are also common warning signs and symptoms of high blood pressure, but these do not occur until high blood pressure has reached a more advanced stage. However, many people even with the highest blood pressure readings do not feel any of these symptoms.

Palpitations, tension headaches and hyperventilation are symptoms of anxiety and so are common in people who are anxious or frightened. If they already have these symptoms and are then unfortunately found to have high blood pressure, then the diagnosis may confirm their fears and reinforce the symptoms. Others may get palpitations for the first time after they have been told that they have high blood pressure. They are not caused by high blood pressure itself, but by fear of it and what the diagnosis means. The symptoms usually disappear, although not always immediately, with adequate explanation of what a diagnosis of high blood pressure really means.

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is considered a modern day disease that can lead to heart disease and stroke. As soon as symptoms are apparent, the proper treatment should be sought immediately. Hypertension, if left untreated, can cause the heart to enlarge due to the increased force necessary to pump blood against the greater resistance in your vessels. It is often called “the silent killer”. It affects nearly 50 million Americans

High Blood Pressure Treatment

Complimentary Therapies – Right medication will curb the level of blood pressure. Living a life with the right practice and involvement will help you to get better relief. It is advisable to join any meditation group or even you can buy books that teach you meditation. In spite of increasing the level of blood pressure, meditation will put an end to the trouble. Moreover, meditation will make your mind to achieve balance pose and position.

Acupuncture combined with electric stimulation or electro-acupuncture can lower elevations of blood pressure in human beings. When the research was conducted for the first time, acupuncture needles were inserted on the inside of the forearm just above the wrist, but to no avail. Researchers then started adding electric stimulation to the needles, which means that electric would start flowing from the needles to the body.

Because a lot of people today do not like taking medications for their disorders, they often opt for alternate medication for their anxiety. This includes aromatherapy, acupuncture, herbal supplements and meditation. These will work well if the anxiety is not severe and there is no severe underlying depression that is causing the anxiety or panic disorder.

We all get anxious once in a while – we wouldn’t be human if we did not have some anxiety in our lives. But some people have extreme anxiety while others have mild anxiety. The difference would be someone who suffered frequent anxiety attacks caused by an underlying condition such as obsessive compulsive disorder or panic disorder. These conditions cannot be mixed with those who suffer from anxiety over taking a math test.

In cases where the anxiety is not as severe to the point where it is stopping someone from doing their every day business, they may try alternate means of treatment before they resort to medications. Some of the alternate means of treatment include:

Herbal supplements

Kava , St. John’s Wort, Valerian and Sam-e are all herbal remedies that have been known to quell minor anxiety and depression. Kava has a very calming effect and can be taken a few days a week to help with minor anxiety. St. John’s Wort is better in treating depression, that often accompanies anxiety. Valerian and Sam-e of the newest herbal supplements that have shown promise in helping with anxiety attacks. However, you should not take these supplements along with prescription remedies and if you find that they are not helping you, you should talk to your doctor about another option. These herbal supplements are made for those with mild to moderate anxiety and depression and not for those with severe disorders.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the anxiety healing art of inhaling infused oils that will get into your bloodstream and cure whatever ails you. Aromatherapy can also be used when mixed with other oils as a massage oil. Many people swear by this type of treatment in that it does them wonders. Again, this type of alternative therapy is made for those who have mild to moderate forms of anxiety or depression.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a way that some people use to rid themselves of all sorts of problems, including anxiety and depression. Acupuncture has been around for thousands of years and can help heal aches, pains and even headaches. Some people who suffer from depression or anxiety swear by this healing method which has its roots in ancient China.

Meditation

Meditation is yet another way that you can help yourself overcome your anxiety attacks. Meditation is something that has been around for thousands of years and is often associated with Hinduism or Buddhism. But it is also very good for finding peace of mind when you are trying to relax. You can take a class in meditation or you can watch a DVD to learn how to master this ancient eastern practice.

Students, generally, carry some sort of pressure to perform. Naturally, they would like to excel, which may or may not be for self satisfaction. It is important to them that they make their parents feel proud about them, understandably so. However, the pressure even increases two fold, test anxiety may take over.

Test anxiety occurs quite normally in people. Anyone who has ever taken a test knows what it takes to fail and go through incredible cramming sessions and incessant writing of notes and also a complete blank-out in the head. However, test anxiety is the easiest to overcome. But test anxiety sometimes projects as an anxiety disorder. Diagnoses may get a little hard if it happens so.

Sweaty palms are the most easily viewable symptoms of test anxiety. This is considered to be the most primitive and normal test anxiety. Fear creeps in with a sense of malaise and students tend to overcome these symptoms by adopting a few measures first up. A few tips are mentioned below:

1. planning study rather than just cramming
2. undergoing practice tests
3. deep and concentrated breathing before an exam
4. self-affirmation before a test
5. Taking extra tutoring prior to a big exam, if the problems happen to be with materials. A good guidance can always be a healthy booster
6. Speaking out your fears with family and friends

But for few students, unfortunately, test anxiety goes over board. The symptoms are more serious if it is a more aggressive anxiety disorder. Fear, insomnia, heart palpitations and fear are the extra symptoms to worry about. This is mostly the case if the symptoms repeat frequently prior to the tests. In most of the cases, the techniques of relaxation for a normal test anxiety may not have a major impact on people who suffer from full fledged anxiety disorder.

If you ever suspect a anxiety disorder, you should be smart enough a person to seek advice medically. The treatments help you in a big way to overcome this disorder and make life more peaceful and less complicated. If the anxiety in you goes beyond a point, it is very important you seek good advice. Anxiety disorders might be terrible if left unchecked.

Test anxiety is something that occurs to anyone. Almost everyone experiences it in life. However, it is better to get checked if the problem seems to persist or looks to be severe. Otherwise, there is absolutely no reason why you should panic. Panic makes things only complicated.

When we think of children at risk what comes to mind is drug abuse. Children can be at risk for emotional problems, depression, anxiety, learning disabilities, social problems, school drop-out, sexual acting out and high risk behaviors. How do we know? Children often lack the verbal skills to tell us how they feel. They keep their emotions hidden and seem introverted, shy or withdrawn. On the other hand, they act out, become hyperactive, impulsive and angry.

Children experiencing academic difficulties at school are at risk. Their self-esteem is affected; they are constantly challenged and cannot keep up with the demands of the school. These problems can be caused by a learning disability, a metabolic problem, ADD/ADHD, processing issues or emotional problems such as depression and anxiety. Depending on the child’s temperament they might persevere in school and keep trying to succeed or they may abandon the effort and simply quit. Either way, finding out the underlying causes through a consultation with a professional will help avoid future issues. A professional child psychologist that is able to provide therapy, diagnosis and treatment. This psychologist should specialize in children and understands how depression, anxiety and learning problems are different in children and adults.

Children are at risk when there is a sudden change in their behavior. If your child was an outspoken, self-secured and confident child who all of a sudden becomes angry, withdrawn and insecure, you should be concerned. He might be experiencing problems in school, be the victim of bullying, social ridicule, bad company, or changes in the home. Have there been any recent loses, changes, divorces or upsets in the child’s life? Talking to them about the change, their worries and providing reassurance might be enough. Sometimes they will resist parental intervention. Again, seeking professional help is recommended.

Finally, there’s the risk for sex and drug abuse. Teenagers experiment and many times they are too young to realize the consequences of their behavior. Talking to them about sex and drugs, keeping open communication with them, knowing where your children are and who they are spending time with is crucial. This is when they will request privacy and “trust.” The privacy and the trust must only go so far.

In short, our children can be at risk academically, emotionally or behaviorally. They can show red flags early on and we can deny their existence. This can increase their chances of depression or anxiety, decrease their academic performance and increase the risk of teenage pregnancy, drugs or diseases. When in doubt, contact a professional. Intervention early on may prevent the problem for snowballing out of control.

A lot of people who are exerting too much of their brain power usually exhaust not only their physical strength when engaging in various multi-tasking activities, they also tend to over extend their brains up to the point when it plainly needs some good old time for relaxation. A lot of busy people who seem to cannot fathom the idea of relaxing and taking time of from work, as well as their worries, tend to actually start having nervous breakdowns, anxiety depression and all sorts of mental illnesses that can cause a person’s sanity to go haywire, fortunately, if you’re one of those poor unfortunate ones who are unable to distress and is constantly worried and fussing over things, there are actually available cures and various treatments for treating anxiety depression.

Anxiety depression is actually characterized by all sorts of irregularities and erratic behavior from the person who is suffering from it, this is usuallu due to certain stress triggers that may tend to easily cause a person undue jitters and stress. Also, a lot of people who tend to get easily nervous over stressful activities are actually prone to having anxiety depression, its just a matter of being strong-willed when it comes to facing difficult and stress-prone activities. It may be pretty hard to overcome at first, but trying to be calm and cool in times of extreme pressure is what’ll actually save your mental health from going totally downward spiral.

When it comes to effectively curing one’s self from a mental illness, one must keep in mind that you have to be actually honest with yourself and assess what kind of depression or mental illness you actually have, go to reputable psychiatrist to get yourself diagnosed correctly as well as be able to get the right depression treatment for yourself. Here are the various types of depression:

Manic or Bipolar depression characterized by sudden and extreme changes in one’s mood wherein one minute he or she is in an elevated state of euphoria while the
next minute (day or week) he or she is feeling to be in a personal hell.

Postpartum depression characterized by a prolonged sadness and a feeling of emptiness by a new mother wherein physical stress during child birth, an uncertain sense of responsibility towards the new born baby can be just some of the possible factors why some new mother go through this.

Dysthimia characterized by a slight similarity with depression, although this time, it’s been proven to be a lot less severe, but of course with any case, should be treated immediately.

Cyclothemia characterized by a slight similarity with Manic or Bipolar depression wherein the individual suffering from this mental illness may occasionally suffer from severe changes in one’s moods.

Seasonal Affective Disorder characterized by falling in a rut only during specific seasons (i.e. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall) studies however, prove that more people
actually fall in to a rut more during the Winter and Fall seasons and lastly, Mood swings, wherein a person’s mood may shift from happy to sad to angry in just a short time.

But the type of depression that has actually been proven to be quite common among people is anxiety depression, which is actually characterized by the state of being overly anxious about things. Anxiety, a supposedly normal behavior that’ll actually help a person adjust more to a certain stressful activity like first date jitters or a grueling exam the following day. Anxiety actually helps you get psyched up towards facing certain “difficult situations”; anxiety therefore is actually a good thing. Anxiety depression however, is simply the opposite, not to be easily dismissed as a “case of the nerves”; Anxiety depression is in actuality an illness that can be caused from the biological makeup of an individual, or in other words, a hereditary illness.

Also, there are actually various types of Anxiety depression, each having its own unique characteristics. Take for example Generalized Anxiety Disorder or GAD, this kind of Anxiety depression is a lot more complicated than the average Anxiety depression, in spite of possibly being a day-to-day habit for those who suffer this kind of Anxiety depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder actually makes the individual quite more paranoid than usual, anxiety attacks are more frequent, even absurd at times. They can even be anxious even when there’s no apparent reason that calls for them to behave in such a way. People suffering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder actually shows a lot of symptoms, from lack of sleep, to being unable to relax, getting tired easily, cannot concentrate on what they’re doing and even suffering from depression. This kind of Anxiety depression is still curable; just a little work will actually do the trick.

Consult a reputable cognitive behavior therapist who’ll help give the individual the therapy that he or she needs to help him or her loosen up, also prescribed medicines are sort of a must to help these individuals battle anxiety attacks, help them calm down and relax.

Anxiety and depression are familiar conditions to us, but are also among the most serious illnesses in the world. Thankfully both these conditions can be treated and sufferers can live anxiety free for life.

There are times when we feel anxious and moody. Anxiety and depression are normal part of life. Who has not studied for an exam without having test anxiety, and then scored much higher for it? Anxiety can keep us alert. Depression, on the other hand, can slow us down, giving us time to reflect and recollect ourselves. In other words, anxiety and depression express moods that are familiar to everybody.

But, when anxiety and depression seem to come from nowhere, last for weeks without relief, and get in the way of everyday activities, then we are not talking ordinary moods anymore; they are now illnesses. Anxiety and depressions are one of the most common mental illnesses in the world today.

People with anxiety disorder may have several physical symptoms, like trembling, sweating, muscle aches, nausea, fatigue, palpitation, dry mouth, cold and clammy hands. Emotionally, they are apprehensive, irritable; they have the feeling of impending doom, and they are self-conscious- feeling like being watched and criticized, etc.

Obviously, people with anxiety disorder are often left immobilized. Anxiety keeps them house-bound, away from people, not able to do normal and simple for fear of this or that. People experiencing anxiety symptoms should know that it is a common disorder and is very curable.

The anxiety symptoms that you may experience include:

Palpitations
Increased sweating
Shaking
Shortness of breath
Chest pain
Nausea or stomach discomfort
Feeling of light-headedness
A feeling of unreality
Feeling of being detached from oneself
Fear of losing control or going crazy
Fear of dying
Feeling of impending doom

Depression, on the other hand, is a serious medical condition that affects the body, mood, and thoughts. It affects the way a person eats and sleeps, one’s self concept, and the way one thinks about things. A depressive disorder is not the same as passing blue mood. It is not an indication of personal weakness or a state that can be willed or wished away.

A person with depressive disorder usually can’t pull themselves together and get better. Without treatment, symptoms can last for weeks to years. The treatment involves medications and/or temporary psychotherapy, which can be more helpful with depression sufferer. The symptoms of depressions may include:

Persistent sad, anxious, or empty mood
Feelings of hopelessness, pessimism
Loss of interest in hobbies or activities that were once enjoyed, including sex
Guilty feelings, worthlessness, helplessness
Decreased energy, fatigue
Difficulty concentrating, remembering, making decisions
Appetite and/or weight changes
Trouble sleeping or oversleeping, early morning awakening
Thoughts of death or suicide, or suicide attempts
Restlessness and irritability
Persistent physical symptoms such as headaches, digestive disorders, and chronic pain that does not respond to routine treatment.

Anxiety and depression are two different conditions, but they are the same in the sense of the intensity of how serious these conditions can be. They are among the most common and most treatable mental illnesses in the world.

Are you searching for the “right” treatment center for you or a loved one? This article is written to suggest that pre-established “programs” of treatment are not the best approach. Rather, there are as many roads to recovery as there are individuals. Treatment centers need to support you on your own path to recovery, not push you into a generalized recovery path that may be slightly helpful to many people, but not exactly helpful to anyone.

If you were looking for the “right” center, there are many factors you would need to consider. Are all of the substances that you use included? A program just for drinkers may not be suitable if you also have concerns about other substances. Do you have related addictive behaviors, like gambling, overeating or an eating disorder? Are your related issues included? For instance, are anxiety, depression, trauma, panic, bipolar disorder or mood swings, attention-deficit disorder or other concerns, if relevant to you, going to be addressed? Can your health problems be identified and treated? If you need to develop better health habits (e.g., around sleep, exercise, food, hygiene, etc.), will these concerns be addressed? Will there be opportunity to include family members or other significant people in your life? On the other hand, will you be required to include people who, for various good reasons, it might be better not to include for now?

There are additional factors to consider as well. Are you a member of a group that is often misunderstood? Are you disabled in some way, a minority group member, of an uncommon ethnic or nationality background, or have a particular spiritual or religious orientation? Do you have responsibilities at work or home that others might not easily understand? Will your upbringing and the influence of your family of origin be included in understanding how you developed your problems and how you need to overcome them? Do your own difficult experiences in trying to be understood by others suggest that it will require others with similar experiences or backgrounds (or professionals dedicated to working with you) in order to be understood? Will a treatment center have enough of these individuals available to you?

The above questions are intended to help you realize how many different factors might need to be considered in establishing a practical and personal approach to recovery. Almost everyone entering addiction treatment already understands what needs to be done: Stop drinking! Stop drugging! Stop the activity addiction (e.g., gambling, video games)! The issue for almost everyone is not what to do, but how to do it. “So, I need to quit drinking, but then what? How do I cope with ____?”

Would it make sense to enter a “program” that is 1) almost entirely based on attending group sessions (with few or no individual sessions), and 2) based on following a prescribed sequence of topics or curriculum (“in your first week we look at how your life has become unmanageable, in the second week…”)? How could such a program address all the issues that are relevant to finding and following your own path to recovery? If you have no choice but to enter a program based on group sessions, then of course get the best match you can find. However, a treatment center that offers primarily individual sessions, with group sessions available, will offer the best opportunity for addressing your unique concerns, and developing your unique path to recovery.

The wait is often a source of anxiety… how not to have peaks of anxiety when we must wait for 9 months!

So even during a normal pregnancy as it is, pregnant women will certainly have at one time or another, anxiety, fear will suddenly invade.

Fears that may be linked to his own health but is more often the case with that of the unborn child… “will it be normal”?, “Pregnancy going up to term” … the questions are multiple and the reactions of individual women vary widely depending on personal experience, sensitivity, but also the ability to not generalize a sad event occurred to Madame X and recounted in detail the day by the so-called best friend …

Weakened during this period of pregnancy, the mother is often very influenced by what she reads, what it means, and any symptoms or any difference compared to “normal” reference announced by the gynecologist can be source of anxiety.

The anxieties and fears that disrupt the sleep of the pregnant woman to be the real source of recurrent insomnia.

Why insomnia is often the lot of the last trimester of pregnancy: the birth approaching, questions and fears come and wake up the mother in the middle of the night with great difficulty to find sleep.

Insomnia that are aggravated by a comfortable position increasingly difficult to find in late pregnancy and various other minor ailments such as cramps, back pain …

What to do about insomnia?

In most cases, no treatment is necessary.

If you have any anxieties, fears, the best remedies is to know your gynecologist or midwife who can give answers to your questions and calm about your health and your future baby. Take advantage of your meetings to prepare for childbirth and share your concerns to the midwife.

Finally, if you know someone has a bad way to tell you all the misfortunes that she (or he?) Heard in this world about childbirth, pregnancy … try to take your distance and do not destabilize. Each case is individual and unless the person in question is a health professional, better not listen!

If you can not find sleep in the middle of the night, get up a drink of water or milk. Walk a little and go back to bed. Do not stay too long to turn and return to bed, you may do more mounting anxiety.

A healthy lifestyle can also reduce sleep by following some tips:

Take a light meal but not enough to be awakened by hunger avoid taking stimulants such as coffee, tea. Opt instead for a glass of warm milk sleep in a room calm and avoid overheated places you relax while listening to music, or immerse yourself in reading take a bubble bath, not too hot, before going to bed

If despite your best efforts, the difficulties and anxieties persist, talk to your doctor. Alternative drugs may actually be adopted.

Attention, you must not practice self: ask your gynecologist who will prescribe any treatment to help you find the sleep and peace.

Thousands of people nationwide suffer from Social Anxiety disorder. While it may not appear all that serious to some who do not suffer from it, it is a big apprehension for those who do.
For those people who endure it and don’t even know about the disease, it can be viewed as being overly shy and hesitant. These people are unaware that there are alternatives and there are treatments available.

The way social anxiety disorder works is that people are scared of being in public where they think people are staring at them with judgmental looks. Some of these people even have problems talking with people and can suffer symptoms that include: blushing, sweating, stammering (you can not seem to get a word out) and shaking.

Oddly enough, the disorder begins in childhood. As an adolescent, they are seen mostly as those who are very shy and like to play alone. As they turn into adults and have had no support or treatments, the problem increases.

The disorder can affect a person’s daily lifestyle and routine. It can also affect a person’s relationships, both on a personal and a professional level. Education worries also are affected. Many of these people have had these problems for so long, they are not aware of the treatment options available.

Luckily, there are people, trained psychologists and psychiatrists, that are out there to help in dealing with social anxiety disorder. One type of support of social anxiety includes: creating a treatment plan which will consist of cognitive behavior therapy. This treatment type deals with the brain and the views it has. The purpose behind it in social anxiety is to work through the beliefs that bring on the attack in the first place and change that into a positive thinking outlet. Along with this type of therapy, counseling is helpful for the sufferers of the disorder.

Since some people are often seen as happy go lucky and outgoing all the time, they do not understand what anxiety disorder does to a person. They seem to think it is all about shyness when it is so much more than that. This is a serious disorder than can only be treated by seeking help. This is a problem that cannot be “cured” on its own.

The support for social anxiety can be quite beneficial and its success rate is high. Counseling on a one-on-one basis is offered by many psychologists and psychiatrists. The person suffering will be seen as often as the doctor thinks they should be.

A type of treatment available to aid in the recovery of the disorder is role-play. Another helpful means is getting together with a support group where those who suffer the same debilitating disease talk about it and come up with ways to deal with the effects.

There are also social anxiety help lines for support. The individual will call a number, usually it is a 1-800 number and can speak with a person on the other end that can walk and talk them through the issue bothering them. Many large cities can offer both of these support groups. Perhaps you can find them in your cities’ yellow pages.

Many people suffer from anxiety and panic disorders of varying degrees. Some of these problems are relatively minor, but they can also be quite severe. One of the most serious forms of anxiety is Generalized Anxiety Disorder, or GAD.

Anxiety itself is a normal reaction to dangerous or unexpected situations and events. GAD takes that reaction to the extreme, however. It is both excessive and chronic, interfering with a person’s day-to-day life.

Part of the reason generalized anxiety – also known as “free floating” anxiety – is so serious is that it does not need a particular situation to trigger it. It can attack anytime, without warning. GAD is thought to affect as many as 5 million adults in the U.S. alone. It affects both men and women, however it is more common among women.

GAD is related to an irregular level of neurotransmitters in a person’s brain. These are chemicals that are basically “messengers” that carry signals to the nerve endings in the brain. The 3 neurotransmitters associated with anxiety are Serotonin, Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and Norepinephrine. During a GAD attack these 3 chemicals react with one another.

People suffering from generalized anxiety are particularly succeptible to stresses in their environment, from thing such as work, school, social situations and more. GAD can also lead to sleep disorders and other seemingly unrelated problems.

Symptoms of GAD include the following:

- Persistent worries
- Difficulty concentrating
- Lightheadedness
- Severe mood swings
- Depression
- Persistent lack of energy

If a person exhibits any of the above symptoms on an ongoing basis, they should see a doctor as quickly as possible for a thorough diagnosis. Early treatment is very important for anxiety disorders, as they can progress into more serious problems if left untreated. The earlier the treatment can begin, the more likely it is the problem will be able to be solved.

Anxiety attacks are normal reactions to a threatening situation and results from an increase in the amount of adrenaline from the sympathetic nervous system. This increased adrenaline speeds the heart and respiration rate, raises blood pressure, and diverts blood flow to the muscles.

These physical reactions are appropriate for escaping from danger but when they cause anxiety in many situations throughout the day, they may be detrimental to a normal lifestyle. An anxiety disorder is a disorder where feelings of fear, apprehension, or anxiety are disruptive or cause distortions in behavior.

At times, an underlying illness or disease can cause persistent anxiety. Treatment of the illness or disease will stop the anxiety. Anxiety illnesses affect more than 23 million Americans with about 10 million Americans suffering from the most common, general anxiety disorder.

Panic attacks can begin with a feeling of intense terror followed by physical symptoms of anxiety. A panic attack is characterized by unpredictable attacks of severe anxiety with symptoms not related to any particular situation. The person experiencing the attack may not be aware of the cause.

Symptoms include four or more of the following: pounding heart, difficulty breathing, dizziness, chest pain, shaking, sweating, choking, nausea, depersonalization, numbness, fear of dying, flushes, fear of going crazy. Heredity, metabolic factors, hyperventilation, and psychological factors may contribute to anxiety causing panic attacks.

Panic disorder tends to run in families with first degree relatives of patients having four to seven times greater risk than the general population. Hyperventilation (rapid shallow breathing) can cause a decrease in carbon dioxide in the blood. This decrease in carbon dioxide has been associated with anxiety. Anxiety can be caused by psychological factors as well.

One theory is that there is an unconscious conflict between certain wishes and desires, and guilt associated with these desires. Another theory is that certain fearful childhood situations provoke anxiety later. This later theory has been associated with agoraphobia in that the fear of being abandoned in the past may lead to fear of public places.

Panic disorder is treated with drugs, cognitive- behavior therapy and other forms of psychotherapy, and/or a combination of the two. Relaxation therapy is also used in combination with other treatments.

Anxiety disorders oftentimes cannot be linked to specific life events and persist for months if not years at a time. Many people with anxiety disorders can be helped with treatment. Most of the medications which are prescribed are started at low doses and tapered off when treatment is near an end.

Side effects generally become tolerated or diminished with time. Behavioral therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy can be effective for treating several of the anxiety disorders. Behavioral therapy focuses on changing specific actions and uses different techniques to alter unwanted behavior.

Techniques include special breathing exercises and exposure therapy – gradually exposing patients to what frightens them and helps them cope with their fears. Cognitive-behavioral therapy teaches patients to react differently to the situations and bodily sensations that trigger panic attacks and other anxiety symptoms. Patients also learn to understand how to change their thoughts so that symptoms are less likely to occur. These techniques are designed to help people confront their fears. Without treatment, anxiety attacks can be extremely disabling and disrupt family, work and social relationships.

Anxiety disorders are one of the most common mental illnesses in America, with over 40 million cases reported last year. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for anxiety disorders to be accompanied or triggered by bipolar disorder. When this is the case, special care must be given when devising a treatment plan for the sufferer. Bipolar anti-anxiety medications should be recommended in most case, along with regular therapy.

Understanding Bipolar/Anxiety Treatments

As with most mental illnesses being treated with medication, the bipolar anti-anxiety medication is just a part of the overall treatment plan. These patients suffering from both disorders tend to have an overall lower success rate in treatment than when the conditions exist singly, unless supervised very closely and monitored for changes. People suffering from both disorders are more prone towards suicide and substance abuse, and should be monitored accordingly.

Since the symptoms of either disorder can trigger the other, it is imperative that both disorders be treated at the same time. But special care must be given to the selection of medications when treating these two conditions concurrently.

Bipolar Anti-Anxiety Medications

When both bipolar disorder and anxiety disorders are present, medical treatment through prescription medications is almost always necessary. It is always the doctors aim to stabilize the mood of the patient through the use of bipolar anti-anxiety medications. This is necessary since the introduction of the normal anti-depressants that are prescribed for anxiety disorders can trigger manic episodes in someone with bipolar disorder if their mood has not been stabilized beforehand. Even if care is taken to stabilize the patients mood before prescribing anti-anxiety medications, it is not uncommon for manic episodes to occur as a result.

Benzodiazepine, a form of tranquilizer, is sometimes used to treat bipolar disorder with anxiety disorders. They seem to treat the anxiety disorders symptoms without triggering manic episodes caused by bipolar disorder. The biggest problem with benzodiazepine is that, like any tranquilizer, it is extremely prone to abuse, and is habit-forming. Withdrawal from benzodiazepine can cause the disorders to return and even get worse.

Often the treating doctor will find themselves needing to change the patients bipolar anti-anxiety medications to different combinations and dosages. Finding just the right treatment for someone suffering from both conditions is difficult, and requires close attention and frequent adjustments by the doctor.

Other Pieces of the Puzzle

While bipolar anti-anxiety medications are an important part of a successful treatment plan, they are not the only thing that needs to be done. Therapy is extremely important as well. The medications help the patient get through day-to-day life, while the therapy aims to combat the problem from it’s roots. In all cases, patients on a combination of bipolar anti-anxiety medications and regular therapy were far more likely to successfully combat their condition.

An estimated 15% of the population live in highly restricted ways due to their suffering of constant anxiety that severely affects their lives. Obsessive thoughts, extreme shyness, phobias, panic attacks, and even compulsive behaviors, are some of what these people experience on a daily basis. Their lives have become disrupted by the feeling of constant anxiety that dominates them.

Sadly, there are some who have become confined to their homes, unable to visit the market, drive or even work. Anxiety is much more serious and damaging than just an occasional wave of apprehension for these people.

There are different types of anxiety disorders out there that can go from minor to severe depending on the individual. A person’s overall behavior, thoughts, feelings and physical sensations are affected by an anxiety disorder. Depending on which type of anxiety disorder they have will determine the severity of it. People handle anxiety in different ways so the severity of their suffering will vary from person to person.

A fear of being around other people is known as social anxiety or social phobia. People suffering from from this particular disorder feel self-conscious around others. They feel that everyone is staring at them, judging and being critical in some way.

These people also learn to stay away from social situations and avoid others, because the anxiety is so overwhelming. Some stay in a room with the door closed so that they can be alone. The feeling is constant and even happens with people they know and have spent time around.

Social anxiety sufferers are aware that their thoughts and fears are not rational. They know that others are not really watching or evaluating them. But, even knowing this does not make the feelings go away.

A person that has panic attacks without warning, suffers from a condition known as panic disorder.

About 5% of the adult American population suffers from panic attacks, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. For those people who experience panic attacks and never receive treatment go unknown, therefore, making the number higher than recorded.

People suffering from panic attacks experience:

Trembling
Sweaty palms and hands, tingling in the hands, feet, legs, and arms
Acceleration or pounding of the heart
Heaviness in the heart or chest pains
Feeling of terror
Dizziness and lightheaded
Fear of dying
Fear of losing control or going crazy
Feeling unable to catch one’s breath

In some instances, the person who has a panic attack does not know what causes it. It happens unexpectedly and without warning. For some people, they have encountered difficult times and have felt extreme stress and weren’t surprised that they had the panic attack.

Finding treatments for anxiety and panic attacks is the foremost step to overcoming your problem with anxiety. Once receiving the proper treatment, most people who suffer from anxiety begin to feel better in a short amount of time. Since each person’s anxiety is caused by a unique set of factors, it can be difficult to identify the correct treatment.

Seeking professional help immediately will allow you to have a diagnosis of the problem and set you on your way to conquering your anxiety. Anxiety can be overcome if dealt with properly. It takes the patient believing that his or her anxiety can be stopped and overcame.

When experiencing a panic attack, it usually happens with no warning and may result from no noticeable cause. Symptoms of panic attacks include numbness in the hands, perceptual distortions, shortness of breath, hot flushes, fear of dying and accelerated heartbeat, to name but a few. Some people suffer from several of these symptoms while other individuals may only experience two or three.

This does not mean that the one individual suffers from a more severe form of panic attack than another, it simply means that some people’s brains respond differently to varying situations. When experiencing panic attacks on a continual basis, whether it is once a day or once a month, it is essential that one seeks safe and effective forms of treatment. Panic attack disorder is treatable in various forms and, as with any disorder, the selection of treatment is based on how severe the disorder is and the individual’s own physiology.

One of the most reliable and trusted forms of panic attack treatment comes in the form of psychotherapy. Many individuals who undergo psychotherapy treatment experience a huge reduction in panic attacks and in many instances, the panic attacks never return. Other forms of panic attack treatment include the use of medication, or a combination of both psychotherapy treatment and medication.

Proven studies have shown that many individuals who suffer from depression and drug abuse have panic disorder, therefore, treating the root of the problem would entail that individuals are not only assisted in relieving their panic attacks but are also assisted with other mental and behavioral problems.

Panic attack treatments in the form of cognitive and behavioral forms involve assistance from a trained therapist to help the client locate the source of the panic attacks and assist with the surrounding behavioral and mental problems that may have triggered them, such as depression. Many counselors who are skilled in their field of work will be able to produce an effective treatment environment where the client will be able to overcome the panic disorder and its related symptoms and problems.

Many times, a panic attack treatment that is utilized is the use of prescription medications. Although found to treat the cause of the panic attacks and to help the individual to relax and feel comfortable in anxiety provoking situations, this form of medication has side-effects, one of its main disadvantages. Many people who utilize anti-depressants feel other than their normal self, for example, they may experience constant fatigue and worry, sometimes even hyperactivity. Research, however, has shown that most forms of anxiety treatments work to relieve the symptoms of anxiety and remove the anxiety disorder within a period of 3-8 weeks.

For a more natural approach, a variety of natural cures and remedies are also available. Ranging from simple behavior modifications to herbal remedies, they can be as effective as other panic attack treatments, without any harmful side effects. Suffering from anxiety disorder should therefore not consume your whole life. With the wide variety of treatments available, people suffering from panic attacks have a very good chance at resolving the problem and leading normal, panic-attack free lives.

That feeling in the pit of your stomach of impending doom. We’ve all felt that way before, but for some people, it’s an everyday occurrence. At its best, it can be disruptive to a person’s everyday life. At its worst, it’s crippling to those who suffer this affliction. These people have anxiety disorder. It’s characterized by a constant feeling of worry which has little or no basis in reality. There are usually other symptoms present, such as sleep disorders, shortness of breath, and heart palpitations.

There are several types of anxiety disorders. Anxiety attacks are one category of anxiety disorder. Anxiety attacks are characterized by a sudden onset of terror, which results in an increased heart rate, a tightening of the chest, and a feeling of losing control. Untreated, it can result in agoraphobia (fear of public places or open spaces.) Panic disorder can also be accompanied by depression. However, treatments such as therapy and medication can cure most anxiety disorders.

Another kind of anxiety disorder is obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD. OCD is illustrated by obsessive thoughts and rituals which are used to control the anxiety that accompanies such thoughts. The rituals can be anything from washing one’s hands over and over again to locking and unlocking a door repeatedly. OCD sufferers may also be fixated on order and symmetry.

Post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, is another example of anxiety disorder. People who suffer from PTSD often startle easily, are irritable and become emotionally numb. It is often brought on by a traumatic event, such as a rape or a mugging. Veterans have been diagnosed with it after serving in war zones. PTSD symptoms can intensify during the anniversary of the traumatic event. Medications and therapy are often successful in the treatment of PTSD.

Social anxiety disorder, or social phobia, is also a type of anxiety disorder. Persons with social anxiety disorder often feel extremely self-conscious and anxious in social situations. If they are asked to appear at a public function, they often will obsess about it for weeks ahead of time. This fear can manifest itself in many ways, including avoidance of work, friends, and family.

Persons with social anxiety disorder often recognize that their reactions are excessive; however, they are still unable to control them. Physical symptoms can include sweating, shaking, blushing, and nausea. Social anxiety disorder is often treated with therapy and medications with great success.

Finally, phobias related to a specific activity, event, or object are also a class of anxiety disorders. Phobias are intense fears or terror of something that really isn’t that dangerous, if at all. It manifests itself in different ways in different people. For example, some have a fear of spiders while others have a fear of enclosed places. Also, some people have a fear of driving on a highway and some are afraid of heights. These phobias often bring on anxiety attacks. Left untreated, they can significantly interfere in the sufferer’s everyday life. Therapy is often successful of the treatment in this particular anxiety disorder.

Anxiety and depression seem to be on the rise in many parts of the world. The increased anxiety after September 11 has caused many people to look fondly at the past well hoping for a better future. In the meantime, it is necessary for many to seek treatment for anxiety and depression if only to be able to continue to function.

While anxiety is a term used to mean excessive worry or fear and depression is considered feelings of sadness and hopelessness, they’re both very closely related with very similar treatment plans. Although there are a number of options available, it’s important to get an accurate diagnosis from a qualified psychological counselor. It’s also critical that you visit your medical doctor, if only to eliminate physical causes that may have triggered the anxiety depression.

Here’s a few of the strategies that have been successfully used to treat anxiety and depression. Understand that while all have been shown effective to some degree, they don’t all work for all people.

Medications:

Certain types of medications known as SSRI or Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors work to increase the serotonin levels in your brain. These antidepressant meds have been able to be used successfully to treat many of the more common anxiety disorders. Although depression is generally recognized as being caused by low levels of chemicals in the brain, it seems to respond well to medication regimen. This in turn can help with various anxiety symptoms even though anxiety is more closely related to phobias and fears.

The Therapeutic Counseling:

Some of the most effective counseling is known as cognitive therapy. This behavior therapy is a type of psychotherapy that helps a person to recognize the thinking patterns that may have caused the anxiety disorder or depression. Psychotherapeutic counseling is especially effective with various phobias also.

Natural Anxiety and Depression Treatments:

There are many products on the market that all claim to cure various illnesses, disorders and disease. The reality is that many of these claims have not or cannot be verified through independent research. This means that even though it product claims to be the “miracle cure” these claims are based on testimonials. This isn’t to say that there are not some natural mood elevating strategies that one can use.

These mood elevating strategies include getting more sunlight. It’s no secret that in the winter when the days are shorter, there are more of us suffer from depression. I purposely going out into the sunlight for a least 30 minutes a day, it’s possible to help raise your mood level and fight off depression.

Another effective method to change your perspective and elevate your mental state is to exercise. A brisk walk or other exercise program lasting at least 30 minutes can elevate the endorphins. These chemicals in the brain can give you an almost positive euphoric feeling that is also an effective treatment for depression.

Although there are many other treatment methods, these have been found to be the most effective. Many anxiety and depression sufferers find that a combination of treatment strategies is required to effectively feel better and function.

Anxiety disorders can be difficult for adults to deal with, and the problem is that much worse when it affects children. Children are often even less able to deal with the effects than adults and these disorders can affect their development.

Because of the potential for lifelong problems, it is critical that anxiety disorders in children are identified and treated as early as possible. The sooner they are dealt with, the less likely they are to develop into more serious problems down the road.

It’s often difficult to pinpoint anxiety disorders in children because they’re often combined with other problems as well. Anxiety often occurs along with ADHD, depression and obsessive compulsive disorder, making it harder to isolate.

There are a number of methods for treating anxiety problems in children. The best choice will often depend upon the child’s emotional and mental situation.

One treatment method that was traditionally considered ineffective is proper diet and nutrition. Over the past several years, however, this has gained considerable attention and research. Proper exercise and nutrition can have a positive effect on children suffering from anxiety – it will not solve the problem entirely but it can improve it.

Therapy and/or medication is one of the most thoroughly researched approaches. It has proven to be effective in many cases, as it allows the child to get his or her anxiety under control. Once it is controlled, the underlying causes can be addressed more effectively.

If a child is suffering from anxiety problems – or you even suspect they could be – a doctor should be consulted. They can do a thorough diagnosis and prescribe the most effective treatment if an anxiety problem is evident.

Treatments are generally different from those that would be prescribed for adults, so don’t assume that the same things will be effective with children.

Understanding Anxiety Attacks As A Part Of Life

Almost everyone suffers from an anxiety attack at some point in life. Whether it’s a fear of failing at an important task or a concern that an animal or some other force will cause harm, the mind and body go into synch and actual physical symptoms tend to manifest themselves. For some people, however, normal fear becomes paralyzing and persistent and actual full-blown anxiety attacks become almost a way of life.

Understanding what anxiety attacks are, how they present and what can be done about them can help people around an anxiety sufferer better grasp what a friend of loved one is going through. It can also help the person who suffers from the attacks realize the need to seek out effective treatments before anxiety waylays life.

Anxiety attacks are very similar to the mental/physical reactions that happen in the fight or flight phenomena. The mind perceives a threat and the body reacts. The difference between a “normal” attack and an abnormal situation generally involves the perceived threat. In the case of anxiety disorders, the “danger” can be quite mundane, but not always. What does happen here is that threats are perceived when they are not really present, or the reaction is out of proportion to the situation. For example, a person who has an extreme fear of public speaking isn’t really in danger, but his or her mind might think so; therefore, the body reacts.

In most cases, anxiety attacks have very intense, fast onsets. They are typically characterized by the following symptoms:

• Intense feelings of fear and danger

• Chest pains, heart palpitations, sweating, trembling and other physical symptoms

• A feeling of depersonalization or a surreal atmosphere

• A strong sense of doom and fear of death

• Lack of breath

• Hot flashes or chills

The unfortunate thing about anxiety attacks is that their symptoms often mimic other serious health conditions. This can lead to false diagnosis and even fuel the fears that death is imminent. When anxiety attacks are properly diagnosed, people generally are treated with a combination of medications and therapy to help them regain control of their lives.

Anxiety attacks can have a one-time presentation or they might occur on a repetitive basis. In the case of the latter, therapy is almost always advised as repetition is generally a sign of a more serious anxiety disorder.

Anxiety attacks are very real manifestations of fear. They can actually be quite normal reactions to a serious situation, or they might present out of irrational fear. If they are repetitive, help generally is required to combat and overcome them and the cause.

There are several different therapies available that can help to control anxiety attack symptoms. There is a treatment called behavioral therapy that is often used to help anxiety attack disorder patients to relieve their symptoms. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a method to change the way a sufferer thinks or perceives certain things and therefore make it easier for the sufferer to handle situations that would normally accelerate into an anxiety panic attack. This kind of anxiety disorder treatment is usually used for Usually, this kind of anxiety disorder treatment is for sufferers suffering from different phobias like social anxiety disorder or social phobias.

The goal of the treatment is to expose the sufferer to the specific things that trigger their anxiety. Hopefully they will realize that the consequences for these kind ofsituations are not at all as bad as they first thought.. The behavioral aspect of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a must for patients looking for anxiety help. By teaching the sufferers relaxation techniques, breathing exercises and the desensitization process, the therapist will help the sufferer change his behavior slowly. Patients who need anxiety help due to paranoia will step-by-step be taken through several stimulated experiences, where step-by-step the fear of people will be overcome.

Medicine is another anxiety attack cure. There are several groups of drugs available for treatment of anxiety panic attacks Todays panic attack medication is very effective in treating anxiety panic attacks. Your doctor will tell you which medication you should take. Remember that it normally takes several weeks for the medication to have any effect. There is a number of different medications are available. These are “Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors”, “Azapirones”, “Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors”, “Tricyclic Antidepressants”, “Benzodiazepines”.

The one most often prescribed to panic attack patients is from the benzodiazepine drug class. In the benzodiazepine drug class, the drug most commonly prescribed drug is “Alprazolam”. However, the benzodiazepine is a medicine drug class that claims it cures anxiety symptoms in 70-80 percent of the users. The one problem with this is that the information included with the drug informs that benzodiazepine can actually CAUSE anxiety!

Beta blockers are the best drug class to control anxiety attack symptoms and are normaly prescribed to prevent rapid heartbeat, trembling and shaking related symptoms. The beta blockers also have fewer side effects than any other forms of medication, but they can cause insomnia and other sleep-related issues like nightmares. Most health care professionals do not prescribe them to anxiety attack patients because beta blockers do not actually cure the anxiety panic attacks.

Anxiety Attack Therapy And Medication Working Together

Quite often, cognitive behavioral therapy are used in combination for treatment of panic attacks. When the patient changes the way they think about certain things, the behavioral therapy is successful. If medication is prescribed to the sufferer, it can take several weeks to fully work. Medications as an anxiety panic attack treatment help regulate different chemicals that the brain needs. The sufferer can effectively battle their panic attacks by combining the two treatments.

Children who have social anxiety disorder typically have parents who chose not to acknowledge the problem. Many parents would rather ignore the issue than face it head up. Whether it is a stigma for the child who has it or whether it is a stigma for the parents, they decide that the problem will go away on its own. In actuality, the problem is bound to get worse.

It is being found that many more children are being diagnosed with this disorder and most being distinguished before their 10th birthday.

For children, symptoms are not totally specific and cannot be seen as well. In fact, children who have this disorder, they will be showing various signs that are seen with social anxiety disorder. Should you be concerned, there are several signs that need to be watched out for.

Signs That Parents Should Look For –

* Throwing tantrums
* Often crying
* Poor eye content
* Speaks softly or seldom talks
* Avoids going to school
* Wanting to be alone
* Anxiety attacks

With so many different ones, parents and children alike really need to keep a watchful eye out for those symptoms.

Once it has been diagnosed, parents can do many things that can help their child out. In many cases, parents will seek professional help in treatment options, choosing what is best for their child. However, there is a small catch. For children, there is no specific treatment plans that can be recommended by the physician. Depending on the type of social anxiety disorder the child is inflicted with and how the parents want to treat it, depends on how the child will get “well”.

In the beginning, parents will ask a professional’s help for the child’s treatment. The first approach is to try many different treatments without medication. Oddly enough, using simple socialization tactics can often times help the child more than if they were treated with medicine.

One tactic could be to place their child in a room full of people so they can be used to being in huge groups with a large stack of different activities. This is one way to get them kids to start socializing. If you put the child in a socialization structured situation with various activities, then it is the best shot to cure the social anxiety disorder without medicine.

However, if the parent has done everything possible without medication, it is time to talk to a professional and get their second opinion. In many cases of natural remedy failures, medication is recommended. Yet, this is not always the best case for the parents, the school and most of all, the student.

It does not matter how the family and child handles this disorder as long as the parents and child recognize there is a problem. Most of all, parents need to remember that there is always a reason for everything and that everything you do for your children is in there best interest so long as you are not in denial.

Depression seems to be a very modern problem with increasing numbers of people affected by it, doctors now know there are various forms, each with its own individual characteristics. For someone who hasn’t suffered from the clinical form it must be a difficult condition to understand, although we can all become depressed about situations on occasion. People who are depressed require specialized medical help with their condition and should seek it at an early stage, you need to be making the right decisions to get through the problems facing you and find out the cause and then deal with it.

Feeling low and angry at life affects all of us occasionally in particular when something awful has happened,usually these feelings subside after a short while and are not considered symptoms of depression. Having a personal problem is one cause and it is easy for family life or any personal relationship to give rise to such problems, some people feel they are unable to act to correct whatever the problem is, but that is the key element in beating the condition. If you just try to ignore it and do not take any action, seek help or treatment, you may end up with more problems, dealing with the issues as early as possible will save someone from making themselves ill, physically and mentally.

Another common cause is found in the workplace and problems can arise in the relationships with co-workers, it is not uncommon for this condition to result in panic attacks, so outside help is often needed to end the situation. Often, the person who is having work problems will end up unhappy and even have periods of sick leave as they become less able to perform their work duties, when they become so unhappy they cannot face even going to work a professional must intervene to end the mental conflict. There are times where a person has been prescribed medication for an illness, for example, and a side effect caused by the chemicals in the medication is depression; where side-effects have created these feelings where no real problem exists.

In these circumstances the person’s doctor should be made aware of any changes in mood so appropriate action can be taken. One of the biggest problems is where the symptoms of depression do not seem to have any cause that can be discovered, this type of situation makes resolving the issues all the more difficult. The problem can arise when the person cannot see that a certain situation or event for instance, as the cause, if they cannot associate the cause with their condition then the way forward is made very hard.

Bipolar or manic depression is notoriously difficult to diagnose and owing to the many types of the condition, owing to the type of symptoms displayed by this condition, some people wait up to five years to have a correct diagnosis made. Whatever the cause, getting help is the most important thing but the sufferer should be willing to take up responsibility and get the necessary help. There is no point letting this condition run your life unless you enjoy the distress it causes you and those around you, a full recovery is possible providing you take the appropriate steps.
