Get Ready To Treat Anxiety Attacks With A Magic Wand!
It is very difficult to treat anxiety attacks, especially if they have become chronic over a long period of time. No matter how much you try to control your feelings, you are swept over by irrational emotions which threaten to disturb your entire life. In most cases, anxiety attacks arise out of fear for them. The moment you start dreading a panic attack, the foundation is laid for the subsequent attack. There is no escaping from them.
Why do anxiety attacks arise? It has been seen that fear is the root cause of anxiety attacks. The human mind is trained for “fight or flight†if it faces a difficult situation. When a person decides to flee a situation, anxiety sets in. Anxiety makes itself felt in a variety of ways. The most common is the thundering of the heart and a feeling of nausea. Some people also experience chest pains and pains in the abdomen. Alternate hot and cold flushes are also experienced. The mind feels lost and unable to concentrate on normal happenings. The fear of going crazy haunts the mind.
The Shock of A Broken Relationship
Most often, girls are the victims of a broken relationship, which break their hearts. A comparative analysis will show that girls are more emotionally attached and hence more prone to anxiety attacks. They take their relationships more seriously and cannot sustain being ditched. My cousin Sarah too was one of these people.
Sarah had a long-standing relationship with a guy named Michael. They were a happy twosome and we always thought they would settle down and get married. But that was not to be. After a few weeks of odd behavior, Michael finally owned up in front of Sarah that he was involved with another girl. They had met at a party and had come close after that.
Sarah was crestfallen. She had no idea how to cope with the situation. She had a hard time letting go of Michael. Instead of taking things calmly, she implored Michael not to leave her and go. It was a difficult situation for all concerned. Finally, when she saw no way of further continuing the relationship, she let go. But, the incident was enough to make her withdraw into a shell. She did not speak to anyone and always stayed locked up in her room. We could hear her crying inside her room.
Gradually, Sarah developed anxiety attacks. She looked like a lost child. All of us took turns to make her understand reality and that life goes on despite all the sorrows of the world. But she turned a deaf ear to all this. We were at a loss over how to handle her.
A Visit To The Doctor
A visit to a psychiatrist was imminent. But Sarah was not interested in it. She refused outright that she would not go to a doctor. She just wanted to be left alone. Somehow we pacified her and told her that there was nothing to lose by seeing the doctor. In the end, we had to literally force her to go to a psychiatrist.
He was quick to spot the symptoms of anxiety. He suggested medicines to treat anxiety attacks. But Sarah was adamant and refused to take the medicines. She said that she was fine and time would heal her wounds. We all knew it to be true but anxiety attacks were not going to vanish in a hurry. Sarah might learn to get over Michael but the anxiety attacks would continue to plague her unless she undertook some treatment.
The Search For Alternative Treatment
Sarah’s behavior put us in a quandary. We did not know how to help her. It was obvious that she was not getting enough sleep and her eyes were rimmed with tiredness. A search for alternative treatments did not throw up many possibilities.
Then, quite by chance, I got into the site The Linden Method. I was drawn by the fact that there was no medication involved and the makers claimed that it was a permanent method. I read the details and felt that there was nothing to lose by trying out the method. Somehow I managed to convince Sarah of my purpose. After a lot of persuasion she agreed to try out the Linden Method. The method entailed going through audio CDs and a DVD. Sarah was also able to take the advice of qualified counselors who had a lot of experience in dealing with such matters.
Matters Are Set Right
The change in Sarah was evident after a few days of going through The Linden Method. There was a smile on her countenance. She was fast returning to her confident self. She took part in conversations and started going out with her friends. But the main test was whether she would bear talking about Michael.
Our worst fears were put to rest when she came across Michael at a party. He was with his new girlfriend. A flicker of sadness passed over Sarah’s face but she was normal again. She did not talk with Michael but behaved normally throughout the party. She even danced with her friends.
