The Permanenty Ways To Cure Anxiety Attacks!
My best friend, Carla, was in trouble and I did not know how to help her. It all started when she gave me the cold shoulder on my birthday. I was totally baffled as she was always the first one to wish me a happy birthday. At first, I was angry. But slowly my anger gave way to concern. What if something was seriously wrong? In fact, it was only after a visit to the doctor that I came to know that all these were symptoms of anxiety attacks. The doctor demanded a full explanation of her feelings. It seemed that her problem was only a few months old. On thinking back, I remembered it must have been during the time her mother passed away. She was very attached to her mother.
The doctor told her that the mishap was the cause of her anxiety. It is a common happening with most people. They are unable to grasp reality when one of their close companions passes away. The body responds with anxiety attacks.
How Does She Feel When An Anxiety Attack Is In Full Swing
- Palpitations – She complained of irregular heartbeats and palpitations in the chest and neck. This is usually the sensations experienced as a result of fright. One could almost hear the pounding of the heart.
- Sweating – There was profuse sweating from all parts of the body. Carla felt as if the sun was down on her in full blast. It was as if she had undergone some strenuous exercise.
- Shaking – Her whole body trembled violently. She was normally a level-headed person and had never experienced such trembling even when she was angry. Her body shook as if she was possessed by the ague.
- Breathlessness – Carla felt out of breath as if she had been running a race. Oxygen seemed to be in short supply. She wanted to breathe faster and get over this situation.
- Lump in the throat – Carla felt a lump in her throat which would not go after swallowing. Rather, it worsened on swallowing. It was as if something had got stuck in her throat.
- Chest pain – Fearing a heart attack, Carla wanted to call the doctor. Shooting pains in her heart, further added to her problems. There was an abnormal heaviness in the heart.
- Abdomen pain – Pain in the heart was further aggravated by pain in the abdomen. Although there was nothing wrong with the abdomen, stitching pains were experienced here.
- Nausea – There was an involuntary intention to vomit. The stomach felt unable to accept anything and threw up with no cause. Nausea took over and Carla could hardly eat anything.
- Dizziness – Carla felt unstable and dizzy. Everything appeared hazy and she felt the need to support her legs. She felt unable to stand up and do her routine work.
- Heat or Chill – The body wanted fresh air and cool temperature and yet the hands and feet felt clammy as if it was biting cold. Carla did not know whether to switch on the air-conditioner or cover herself with a blanket.
- Going Crazy – She felt as if she was losing her mental balance. She knew that such things were not normal and feared that she was going to die. She could make out that irrational feelings were getting hold of her and was afraid that she was going crazy.
A Visit to the Doctor
A psychiatrist is the first person to be consulted in such cases. Carla’s family doctor recommended meeting a psychiatrist and I took her there the next day. After hearing the symptoms, he immediately started a method to cure anxiety attacks. He prescribed some breathing exercises and low doses of medicine to counteract anxiety.
