How to Cure Panic Attacks – There’s No Such Thing as Cure?

So…can you cure panic attacks?

The simple answer is YES!

A lot of people have this misconception that they are stuck with panic attacks forever. This beliefs comes from their doctors and psychologists who tells them that there are no such thing as panic attacks cure.

These medical professional tells you to learn to live with panic attacks. They teach you “coping technique”, “breathing exercises” and ask you to change your life style to suit your anxiety. They give you medication to subdue your panic attacks. No one question their methods because they are medical professional – its all “medically proven”.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not condemning these medical professionals. Some of them do an excellent job in helping people, but the fact remains that there’s still a lot people out there who do not respond well to their treatment methods and are still suffering from panic attacks.

People need an alternative! They don’t need to be stuck taking medicine forever or even have this beliefs that they are “incurable”.

Panic attacks is NOT incurable. Its not even a mental illness. Somehow along the way, your “panic alarm” gets messed up. It goes off for no reason even though your not in any danger – this is panic attack!

So… can you cure panic attacks? YES! You just have to learn how to fixed this “panic alarm”, its that simple! Does this sound incurable? Obviously NOT!

The KEY thing to take note is fear. What’s make panic attack difficult to stop? Fear. The fear of having a heart attack during panic attack. The fear of fainting during a panic attack. The fear that you might actually die from a panic attack. The cure to panic attacks is to stop this irrational fear.

Your heart is pounding madly and your chest hurts, you think its a heart attack…but ITS NOT! This sort of heart activity is usually reserved for vigorous activity (for example:exercising), when you don’t notice it as much. Its suppose to feel this way when your in “panic mode”.

You feel dizzy and weak, you think your going to faint soon…but YOUR NOT! This sensation is caused by hyperventilation – when your breathing too fast and taking in too much oxygen. Having too much oxygen in your blood will disrupt its normal flow, your brain automatically restrict blood flow to balance out the low carbon dioxide levels – resulting in light-headedness.

As you can see, every symptom your experiencing is caused by the body. Your not stuck with some “mysterious illness”. Furthermore, your body CANNOT kill itself and that’s why you having nothing to fear. Panic attack CANNOT kill you.

What Are Panic Attacks? How Do I Stop Them?

Panic attacks are intense feelings of fear and anxiety that can come on suddenly. They can be associated with one or more physical symptoms, including rapid heart beat, shaking, rapid breathing (shallow breathing), tingling sensations in the arms or face (pins and needles), and feeling dizzy or light-headed, like the world is “closing in on you.”

Many people fear that they will pass out or die during a panic attack, but the attacks are not physically harmful and often fade away within 10-30 minutes.

But even though panic attacks are not considered physically harmful, they are certainly emotionally harmful, often causing a fragile state of mind, wherein the sufferer obsesses over the possibility of another attack occurring. Unfortunately, this obsessive “loop” often leads to more panic attacks, producing a “cycle of panic and anxiety” that can be difficult to break.

There is also much evidence to suggest that the elevated stress levels associated with panic attacks weaken the immune system; so learning to deal with them effectively is in fact a health issue, not just an emotional health issue.

Medication is sometimes used to “cover up” symptoms of panic attacks, but in my experience, there are only two proven methods of stopping them: breathing exercises and cognitive stress reduction techniques (thinking yourself out of a panic attack). A combination of these two often produces the best results.

You can find a lot of information about breathing exercises online, but a good basic technique is to sit quietly and concentrate on slowing your breathing, making sure that you exhale longer than you inhale. This reduces slightly the amount of oxygen you are taking in, and has a calming effect that is noticeable within minutes.

We normally think of more oxygen to our system is good thing, but too much oxygen can lead to hyperventilation, which is known to produce an anxiety. You’ve probably seen the old “breathe into a paper bag” technique. This operates on the same principle: reduce the oxygen intake (slightly) to calm the central nervous system.

Cognitive stress reduction techniques are also effective and can be used in conjunction with breathing exercises to reduce anxiety and panic symptoms. Taking the time to learn a few of these techniques can improve your ability to deal with stress and anxiety and even stop panic attacks from occurring in some cases.

An easy but effective technique is one I call “Questions and Answers.” To begin, be seated comfortably with your eyes closed, and begin mentally asking yourself the following questions:

What does it feel like to be calm and relaxed?

How would it feel right now if I were at peace with myself and the world?

How would it feel to be ________ right now? (Fill in the blank with the name of someone calm, relaxed and in control. It could be a friend, a celebrity or anyone who represents these qualities to you)

Ask the above questions calmly and slowly to yourself, pausing between each question to consider the answer. You can repeat these questions to yourself many times–just remember to ask the questions slowly and pause each time to consider the answer.

Using a cognitive technique like “Questions and Answers,” combined with simple breathing exercises is one of the most effective ways of stopping panic attacks, and preventing them in the future. The more you practice these exercises, the better you will get at it, and the less panic attacks will be a part of your life.

Help Cure My Anxiety Attacks!

There are millions of people around the world asking the question “Help cure my anxiety attacks?” These people suffer from this invisible problem that others can’t notice, but can be very frightening when it occurs due to symptoms such as:

1/ Palpitations of the heart.

2/ Breathing difficulties.

3/ Scary tightening across the chest.

4/ Dizziness and confusion.

5/ Awful sense of fear.

The list can go on, but you can see from these symptoms why people would love to cure their anxiety attacks to leave this terrible feeling behind them. The terrible thing is that you can tell yourself positive thoughts and you know these are temporary feeling, but when a panic or anxiety attack arrives you aren’t able to think straight and you are taken over by fear. In simple terms people need help to cure anxiety attacks because it’s a living hell being taken over in body and mind alike. These attacks can occur at any time such as in shopping malls, in crowded areas, at work, or for the most insignificant circumstances, and as you suspect one coming you are actually promoting it.

There are some very good exercises you can do to stave off an attack in the making. First of all try to control your breathing. In through the nose and out the mouth. Regulate this as much as possible so you don’t get the shortness of breath or palpitations. Do not under estimate the power of self talk while doing this. While doing the breathing exercises say or think the word “relax” and this will help greatly.

Another way to quick reduce an imminent anxiety attack is to purposely tense your shoulders for about 15 seconds then let go. You will feel the tension release through your body and this will help you relax enough to take stock of the situation.

If you are in public these 2 techniques can help get you through a situation until you are home. When you are home you can use diversion tactics to help cure your anxiety attack. Listen to uplifting music loudly and sing along. Watch a funny television show and lift your spirits. Again, don’t under estimate self talk. Assure yourself that these attacks have never harmed you before and this sense of safety will stop the fear that is fuelling the anxiety attack in the first place.

If you get an attack or feel one coming on in bed, do not lie there. You will not get to sleep anyway and you will have no distractions to help you so it will take you over. Get out of bed and put on the television. Distract yourself until you literally fall asleep so the feeling can’t control you.

People can ask “Help cure my anxiety attack?” but the truth is that they have the power to help themselves. The root cause for anxiety is found in the brain. The way your brain reacts to stress and anxiety can be adjusted and with it you can teach yourself to control situations better so not to encourage future attacks. Always remember that you are not alone and there are millions like you. Having a panic attack can make you feel as lonely as hell but this is not the case, so content yourself with this and the fear will subside.
