How Does a Mother Overcome Her Fear of Flying?
Fears scare the hell out of us. Plain and simple. People are scared of, fearful of everything and anything. No matter what your fear, I can tell you someone, somewhere also has the same fear as you.
A common fear is a fear of flying. This is caused for a variety of reasons: people fear more attacks by terrorists, they have a fear of height, a fear of not being in control, or they can have the fear and not even know why. Yet they still don’t like to fly. The world of flying can open up a whole new world to you, if you begin to take control and begin lessening or completely overcome your fear of flying.
IDENTIFY THE SOURCE OF YOUR FEAR – Do you know someone who died in a plane crash? Did the events of September 11, 2001 affect you severely? The first step in finding the solution is finding the source. Sometimes the source has nothing to do with the fear at all.
ASK FOR A TOUR – Call an airline and explain to them that you would like to have help overcoming your flying phobia and would like to have a tour of a plane. American, Northwest, and US Airways are the most friendly with this request. Talk to the the companies and ask them what do they do if somebody tells them, they hate flying. Talk, research about your flight company and their high levels of health and safety. All companies I’ve been in contact with are more than willing to help you let go of your fear. If they can help in even only a small way, they will. Of course, you won’t get flight certification, but it can do wonders for helping overcome fear.
TAKE A RIDE IN A FLIGHT SIMULATOR – The sensation of flight may actually help you to realize that the fear can be easily overcome. Then again, if you still have intense anxiety in the flight that remains safely on the ground in a stationary position, then you might find that the fear is deep rooted in something other than any actual danger.
TAKE A RIDE IN AN ULTRALIGHT PLANE – This might seem crazy, but ultra light planes are amazingly safe in that, if something mechanical does go wrong, they can easily glide to a safe landing. You might find that you absolutely love it!
READ BOOKS – Read stories about other people who have faced their fear of flying and seek inspiration from them. There is nothing specific about you that makes it impossible to overcome your fear of flying.
SEEK THE ADVICE OF A PROFESSIONAL – You might want to talk to a psychologist who can help provide you with tools to help you deal with the anxiety you feel when faced with the need to fly.
EVALUATE YOUR FAMILY SITUATION – I never feared flying until I got in a plane with my newborn daughter. My tears just flowed thinking, “What if something happened to her?”After a while I began to realize that she would learn from me. What was I teaching her? I began bum to myself, knowing that I wanted her to live as fearless a life as possible. Years later, I flew without my children. Once more I started to feel sick to my stomach. What if something happened to me and they were left behind? I was half way through the flight when I was reminded of words I told my child. “You live in a world that is designed to keep you safe. Accidents happen, but living in fear of those accidents that never happen is the bigger tragedy. You must trust in yourself, trust in your mother, and trust in your God that you will be just fine.” I relaxed. I have flown many times since and recalled the words of wisdom that comforted my little girl and now comfort me.
TARGETED HELP TO OVERCOME PHOBIAS – Some phobias have many facets to them and need a multi-pronged approach, so that a fear can be loosened from its ‘firm’ foundation in more than one direction. There are programmes that have massive success in helping people overcome phobias forever. Results can be quick, easy and long lasting, if not permanent. Ovecoming any fear is literally life altering for that person. These programs effectively identify the sources of fear and help to reprogram your mind, so those fears simply cease to exist. With new ways of communicating and travelling our world becomes smaller and smaller. Without being able to fly, you simply miss out on so many wonders that await you. You can miss job opportunities, once in a lifetime vacations, the birth of grandchildren, and sustained relationships with distant loved ones. You owe it to yourself to be proactive and finding the method that works for you so that soon you can be flying without fear!

At least 1.6 percent of adult Americans, or 3 million people, will have panic disorder at some time in their lives. Panic disorder is a serious health problem and is very different from other types of anxiety. Panic attacks are sudden, appear to be unprovoked, and are often disabling. If you have panic disorder, you may feel suddenly terrified for no reason. During a panic attack, you also have scary physical feelings like a fast heartbeat, trouble breathing, or dizziness.
Panic attacks can happen at any time and any place without warning. Many people with panic disorder develop intense anxiety between episodes. It is not unusual for a person with panic disorder to develop phobias about places or situations where panic attacks have occurred, such as in supermarkets or other everyday situations.
It usually starts when people are young adults, around 18 to 24 years old. Sometimes it starts when a person is under a lot of stress, for example after the death of a loved one or after having a baby. Anyone can have panic disorder, but more women than men have the illness. It sometimes runs in families.
Speaking to a specially trained doctor or counselor who can teach you ways to cope with your panic attacks helps many people with panic disorder. Therapy will help you feel less afraid and anxious. Thanks to research, there are a variety of treatments available, including several effective medications, and also specific forms of psychotherapy. Often, a combination of psychotherapy and medications produces good results.
It is extremely important for a person suffering from panic disorder to understand that help is available. Tragically, many people with panic disorder do not seek or receive treatment.

General Anxiety Disorder Symptoms
General Anxiety Disorder or GAD as it is known is another type of anxiety disorder. It affects roughly 4 to 5 million people of the American population alone. If you suffer from this Disorder symptoms can include but are not limited to those also suffered by panic disorder victims. It has also been found that it affects women proportionally more that it does men.
The symptoms are many and vary from person to person. There are however a few symptoms that are the same across the board for most people and which generally characterize their lives and lifestyles. By the same token it can bring on insomnia, panic attacks and depression. Intense anxiety and fear are also quite common to these symptoms.
Other more physical, symptoms include headaches, diarrhea and nausea, lightheadedness, trembling or twitching. A palpitating or pounding heart, shortness of breath and trouble concentrating are also effects that can occur.
Irritability and mood swings, constant tension coupled with the inability to relax are all General Anxiety Disorder symptoms, and are all contributing features to other symptoms as well.
This vicious cycle can sometimes take its toll not only on the Disorder sufferer but also on the family of the sufferer. The pressures of living with a person who suffers from GAD, the inability to cope with the persistent and sometimes inconsequential worrying, the constant depression and mood swings can all take their toll. Most families do not survive too well if someone within the family suffers from this disorder.
That is why medical attention should be sought as soon as possible to alleviate your symptoms. General Anxiety Disorder can be cured and you should know this. Treatment methods are readily available to you and it is merely a matter of finding the courage to go out and find it. Anxiety disorders
An anxiety disorder refers to many different kinds of abnormal and irrational anxieties or fears. People with anxiety disorders may experience having intense panic attacks that appear from out of nowhere, some in the form of eccentric obsessions and compulsions. Some people develop extreme fear over things that generally don’t bother other people.
Anxiety disorder comes in many forms, the most common being:
